The Granite Cross

A large granite cross is among the first things you see in the rolling, open landscape when you enter through the main entrance.

The large granite cross on the grass in front of Skogskrematoriet was designed by Gunnar Asplund, raised in 1939. The cross was created after an anonymous donation.

Skogskyrkogården is a cemetery for everyone. It doesn’t matter if you are religious or not. The cross is a Christian symbol for life after death, but can also be interpreted as a symbol for a cemetery.
